randombiblescripture.com is a place to read scripture a verse at a time. There is a Bible verse of the day on the homepage, collections of verses on subjects like strength, anxiety and grief, and a way to open the Bible at a random verse, passage, chapter, or book. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to install.

The verse of the day

Each day's verse comes from a list of 366 well loved passages and is chosen by the date in US Eastern time, so everyone reads the same verse on the same day. It changes at midnight, not when you refresh.

Opening the Bible at random

When you ask for a random verse, every verse in view is equally likely. Across the whole Bible that means all 31,102, so a verse in Numbers comes up as often as John 3:16. Narrowing to a book or a testament narrows the field, and the chance stays even within it. It is closer to letting a Bible fall open than to picking from a list of favourites.

Which translations

The site stores and displays two public domain translations, the King James Version and the World English Bible. Copyrighted translations are never stored here. Where you see NIV, ESV, NLT, or NKJV offered, the link opens that chapter on Bible.com rather than reproducing the text. The translations page has more detail.
